i think we have all finninshed the book by now, but anyway I thought the visual description of Lunas father was really good, i had no problem visualising him. I also think that we are the only ones left on this site. Furthermore, the books got progressivly better as in the stlye, technique, and beauty. Its like a study of a growing author: you can watch her grow as a writer.

Good points. Everyone probably has read the book by now. And like you said, we are the only ones who seem to come here. lol But I have to disagree with you about each book getting better. While I loved The Half Blood Prince, I didn't think it was nearly as good as the ones before it. It seemed to me she spent half the book having the kids make out. While I understand they are growing up and are at that age, I didn't see the need to dwell on it as much as she did. I thouhgt she could have had more to the story instead. On the other hand, it did show that the kids were indeed growing up in a normal and natural way. Something many authors fail to do.

I didnt mean the story per say, plus i havent read Half Blood Prince in ages. as soon as i finninsh the Order of the phoenix, i will get to half Blood Prince. I also dont read very many stories that deal with teen agers over such a long period of time. sorry i cant comment back to you very well. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Nah, you did a good job. I would like to see someone pick up the story with Genny, Nevel, and Luna in school. I would have liked to have seen some of the things they did.

Yeah...I have to agree with you Tekel when you said they spent way too much time making out...the book would have been a helluva lot shorter without all that crap in it. And in the seventh one, they spent way to much time just waiting around and not doing anything....although I don't really think the book could have ended any other way. FanFictioners are going to have a heyday with the last little bit at the end...

rotflmao Yes... Yes they will. hahaha The last one kinda gave the "They lived happly ever after" ending. But I think the fanfics will fill in that little gap. But the ending was still good. And as much as I loved the series, I'm happy it did finally end. Like in DL, I loved all the old characters, but I'm glad it's moved on to newer ones.

A change is always good in these types of situations. I was watching HP3 and HP4 over the weekend, again, and they were way too dark for the books! i was shocked! the character that played Barty Jr. i think also stars in the main role in Dr. Who... the consistency of the story was good for those who did not read the books though, which did not carry to the 5th movie at all.

Ah... Dr Who. Now that brings back some memories. haha Anyway, good points there. Though I actually thought the books were a little darker in some places than the movies. I will have to disagree with you about the consistency of the stories though. I thought the first 3 were very close, but not the fourth one. And you're right, it didn't carry to the fifth one at all. But of course by this time the books are so think that the movie would have had to have been at least 3 hours to squeeze it all in. But I think a 3 hour movie would have been fine. lol

Consistency in the 4th as in the way the events at the World Cup were linked to the train ride to Hogwarts. The story made sense for those non readers, but bugged the hell out of the readers for all that they left out. Yes, the novels got longer but i would sit through a 4 hour Harry Potter movie if that was the only way to get it all in, or even most of it in. The diehard fans would most likely pay to see a really long movie if there was a built in intermission because the books are so captivating, and you get to see more of your favorite characters like Snape or Luna. LOTR was so good because the novels were followed really closely, why cant they do the same with Harry Potter?

Yes, so much of that should have been left in. It helped show just how upset Harry was which actually set the beginning for the next movie. haha I would have loved a 4 hour move. But like you said, an intermission would have to have been included. Besides, Harry Potter is sooo much better than LOTR.
On that note, what about these people who say Harry Potter is evil because of all the magic used in it but LOTR is ok? I can understand if someone is for both, or against both, but to be against one for something that is in the other is stupid.

Tell me about it. My school's PTA tried to ban it, but all us fans bit their heads off...almost literally.

lmao I think it's funny when people get worked up about things like that. There are so many other things they need to be worried about.
